Today was a challenge for the photographer and stylist who came to shoot an image of our store for an article in June issue of Family Living. The tiny space required careful styling!

New Print for Spring
Working on a new rabbit print for the Spring.
Illustrations
Petra has been doing a series of product package illustrations these past weeks. The product range has over 15 different types of sauces and the illustrations are for the re-design of the packaging. Based on a combination of photos from her iPhone and colored pencil illustrations.
Winter Days
These are, for many, the toughest days of winter – and right now we’re getting hit with the big Cold Snap which has affected much of Europe. The store has had reduced hours due to the general lack of people in Gamla Stan during this time. Petra has been busy doing a series of new illustrations for packaging on a food product. The illustrations are done in colored pencil and are 180° different from the simple clean graphics which define Gooey. I’ll post some when the job is done.
Today I received some pictures from a dad who came in toward the end of Summer. I remember he was a navigator or pilot on a cruise ship and he lived in Uraguay. He was really nice and we spent a while talking about all kinds of stuff. I remember he was insistant that we consider opening a store there – saying how nice it was and that the design would work well….. Now the pictures arrived and I see how warm it must be and I can’t help but dream of a winter location which is the opposite of here now!
1 year anniversary event
December 1 we’re celebrating the one year anniversary of our concept store in Old Town.
It’s been a fascinating time: marking the seasonal changes, becoming a part of the merchant community, designing, producing and selling new things in the store and of course meeting all the people who come in. That’s my favorite part – talking to and hearing what people like and seeing their reactions to Petra’s designs!
Come by between 5 and 8 for some refreshments and snacks. Petra has printed gift boxes and we’ll of course have everything on sale also! Thanks for a great first year!
Wall Decals
Autumn Market again.
The annual Fall Harvest Market took place the other weekend outside Järna at Skillebyholm. The annual event seems to grow in size each year and we’ve come to really enjoy having a small tent there.
The market is all about natural products, organic farming, great fresh food, arts & crafts and hand-made goods.
Our hats really sold well this year as the weather was just perfect to make people feel the need for a light autumn hat.
From France & Costa Rica
I received this great image from a French woman who visited our store. She wrote:
The girls absolutely love their new dress and everyone is asking me where I got them! I do hope your international sales are going to increase. Your website is very user-friendly.
Here’s a photo of Juliet (6) and Clea-Rose (2) in their new dress! It was taken in France, it is far too hot in Texas right now to be outside: it was 107F when I took the car this afternoon: cra-zy.
Another email arrived yesterday from a couple from Costa Rica who bought some clothes from us while visiting Gamla Stan. They wrote:
Dear friend
In our recently trip through Scandinavian countries, we bought in Stockholm (Gooey Brand Store) a beautiful dress flower for our little granddaughter. Now this is the favorite dress for her. Really is a nice dress.
Sincerely
Luis Enrique Ortiz Pérez
y Maritza Sancho Mora
Thanks so much for the compliments – Petra is very happy to hear that her creations are so well received and liked by both the parents and the kids!
Pirate Girl
I love hearing from our customers – and the fact that the store location in Old Town gets so many tourists means Gooey is getting out to many corners of the world!
The last days I’ve had customers from Dubai and Saudi Arabia. They said we should open a store in the UAE! One mom was haggling over the prices like we were in the Souks of Marrakesh! It was kinda crazy having all her large family quietly watching us while she put the “screws” to me! She was a professional!
Yesterday I had a visit from a very cool family from Park City, Utah – USA. Skiers and self avowed hat freaks, they bought 7 different hats to take home with them!
This is Anna from Skaneateles, New York enjoying her Pirate dress! I remember a few weeks ago when her mom came in and said her daughter was crazy for pirates. Nice to see the end result and keep ‘em coming!
Cherry Dress available now.
The new summer dress with a little songbird in a cherry tree is now available. This design is the same cut as the Sunflower dress. See the pictures I took today.
